Carlton Jumel Smith is back on Timmion Records, doing what he does best: grooving, testifying and romancing his way into your heart. His last album for the label 1634 Lexington Ave. left many contemporary soul fans in awe – some in tears of joy – and they will be pleased to know that he has something new cooking in 2022.

Carlton and Cold Diamond & Mink bring out a new trilogy of tracks that will be first available as a digital EP and soon after on three separate vinyl records flipped with instrumental versions.

"Devoted To You" packs everything you could want from a mid-tempo jam. A steady tambourine beat rides a mellow groove, leaving Carlton all the pockets he needs to fill with his ever-funky but delicate delivery. "Heaven In My Arms” is a melodic beat ballad of the highest order, which should sweep fans of lowrider soul off their wheels, while "Loveliness Of You” has sunday soul written all over it.

A Limited collaboration by Timmion Records and Tarvas Footwear. Includes a pair of Tarvas x Timmion Explorer shoes with colors inspired by the instruments and analog equipment at the Timmion recording lab.

The package includes a special 7" vinyl record with tracks "The World Loves A Fool" and "Not There Yet" by Jeb Loy Nichols and Cold Diamond & Mink as well as a random Timmion Records test pressing as bonus item.

Jeb Loy Nichols “World Loves a Fool B/w Not There Yet” pre-sale Timmion Records Band Camp Store(Link in Bio). For the last single release from Jeb Loy Nichols' album, Timmion takes us back to the beginning. Of the recent "Jeb Loy" album that is, since its first track graces the single's A side. If you've not yet hopped onboard with this talented American-born but Welsh-based songwriter/singer, this is a great place to start. The spoken word intro, following on the coattails of Cold Diamond & Mink's guitar licks and horn transition in "World Loves A Fool", is a classic storytelling move. Through his mother's interesting proverb, Jeb sets the scene for what's to follow, a lesson for the listener about life's complexities.

On the B side, we find one of the most beautiful tunes of the album, "Not There Yet". It's a gentle southern-style soul groover where Jeb lets his writing truly shine. Backed with a shimmering organ and CD&M's pulsating rhythm, Jeb recants the experiences of a musician on the road through the eyes of a crow.

Jeb Loy Nichols can crank out songs that touch and make things move inside the listener. Soul singer Millard Leon “Willie” West was born in Raceland, LA, near the city where his music career got off the ground, New Orleans. West, while never widely known outside soul aficionado circles, did produce a string of classic 45s on numerous labels in the 60’s & early 70’s including Rustone, Deesu, Chess, Josie, Warner Bros and Frisco. He recorded with seminal NOLA figures like Allen Toussaint and was backed by The Meters on some of his singles. One of those 45’s, 1970’s “Fairchild,” features a swampy bayou funk groove and smooth-as-silk vocals from West. It remains his most well-known track (original pressings of the 45 often fetch upwards of $500) and is revered as a classic soul single.

West was also an “unofficial” touring member of the Meters in the late 1970’s until they broke up in 1980. A regular performer at the tourist packed bars on Bourbon Street for 20 years, West did not get a full album length recording out until 1999 when his debut CD, "From West With Love," was released.

Following hurricane Katrina, Willie moved to the Minneapolis/Saint Cloud area and has been there ever since.
